Successfully conducted a significant planting event at the Municipal Ground.

On July 19, 2024, the Municipal Officials and Employees of LGU Milagros together with personnel from Philippine National Police (PNP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), under the leadership of Mayor Natividad Isabel R. Magbalon, M.D., successfully conducted a significant planting event at the Municipal Ground. The plant chosen for this initiative was Cymbopogon citratus (DC. ex Nees) Stapf., locally known as “Tanglad” or lemongrass. Cymbopogon citratus is a member of the Poaceae family and is well-known for its wide distribution and diverse applications. It has gained global recognition for its versatility and utility in various sectors. Lemongrass is highly valued for its culinary uses, aromatic properties, and medicinal applications. Lemongrass extract exhibits various pharmacological properties, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and anticancer effects. Planting lemongrass enhances the Municipal Hall’s aesthetic appeal and serves an educational purpose, raising awareness about the benefits of native plants. By integrating local flora, the event encourages community involvement and promotes environmental sustainability. #MilagrosTODAY #MilagrosMasbate
