LGU MILAGROS JOINS INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP 2026
In observance of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2026, the Local Government Unit of Milagros, under the leadership of Hon. Natividad Isabel R. Magbalon, M.D., through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), led by Carmen B. Cortes, EnP., spearheaded a coastal cleanup activity at the Poblacion East and West Coastal Areas.
The activity brought together government personnel, schools, BFP, PNP, local sectors, Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), and other organizations in a collective effort to address marine litter and protect the municipality’s coastal environment.
The cleanup involved coastal litter collection and data gathering, documenting the types and quantities of waste recovered. The collected materials were subsequently consolidated through a coordinated waste collection activity led by MENRO personnel to ensure their proper handling and management.
This year’s ICC carries the theme “Clean Seas for Resilient Communities,” highlighting the vital connection between healthy coastal and marine ecosystems and resilient, healthy, and sustainable communities.
The International Coastal Cleanup reminds us that protecting our seas is a shared responsibility. Through collective action, responsible waste management, and continued community participation, we can help keep our coastal areas clean and contribute to a healthier, cleaner, and more resilient Milagros. 💙🌊
