The Municipality of Milagros proudly celebrated the 48th National Disability Rights Week with the theme:
“𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”
Spearheaded by our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Natividad Isabel R. Magbalon, the celebration reaffirmed the LGU’s commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
In line with this year’s theme, the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), in partnership with PhilHealth and FPOP Masbate, conducted a service caravan that provided free medical consultations, health services, and information to our PWD community.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the LITVIMUSDA Contest, which gathered 362 participants, including persons with disabilities and their dedicated caregivers. More than a competition, it became a celebration of talent, resilience, unity, and the invaluable role of caregivers in empowering the PWD sector.
This celebration marks only the beginning of many more programs and initiatives that the Local Government Unit will undertake to strengthen inclusion, uphold the rights of persons with disabilities, and build a community where everyone has equal opportunities to participate and thrive.
Together, we continue to move Rights First, Legislation Forward creating a more inclusive Milagros for all.
