On March 21, 2025, the Municipality of Milagros, under the leadership of Mayor Natividad Isabel Revil-Magbalon, M.D., successfully launched the Zero Waste Program in School with Basura Balyo Gamit sa Eskwela.

This program partnered with the DepEd Milagros East District, headed by PSDS Teresita R. Monacillo, and Revil-Bajar National High School, led by Sir Raden Barredo, making it one of the program’s highlights. Spearheaded by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Carmen B. Cortes, the program addresses the growing waste management issues while fostering environmental awareness in schools and the wider community. As part of the initiative, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign centered on the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, or Republic Act No. 9003. The campaign provided valuable insights into waste segregation, recycling, and proper disposal practices to ensure environmental sustainability. The launch event saw active participation from students and teachers, all of whom were introduced to the importance of reducing waste and adopting zero-waste practices. The program aimed at waste reduction and promoted sustainability and environmental responsibility within the community. #ZeroWasteMilagros #MilagrosTODAY
