PALIT BASURA, BALYO BUGAS AT PAGKAIN ♻️
Barangay Paraiso
On September 22, 2026, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Milagros, under the supervision of Carmen B. Cortes, EnP., and with the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Milagros led by Municipal Mayor Hon. Natividad Isabel R. Magbalon, M.D., successfully conducted the “Palit Basura, Balyo Bugas at Pagkain” initiative in Barangay Paraiso, Milagros, Masbate.
As part of the continuing Zero Waste Program of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Milagros, the activity aimed to strengthen responsible waste management, promote environmental awareness, and encourage active community participation through the exchange of recyclable materials for rice and food items. The program adopts an incentive-based approach to reinforce proper waste segregation and recycling practices at the grassroots level.
Residents of Barangay Paraiso actively participated in the initiative by bringing various recyclable materials, including plastic wrappers and sachets, plastic bottles, and glass bottles. Through their collective efforts, recyclable waste was collected and exchanged for rice and food items, demonstrating the community’s commitment to proper waste segregation, recycling, and environmental stewardship.
The successful implementation of the activity reflects the continued partnership between the LGU of Milagros, MENRO, and the residents of Barangay Paraiso in advancing sustainable solid waste management. Through initiatives like “Palit Basura, Balyo Bugas at Pagkain,” the municipality continues to promote environmental responsibility while providing meaningful incentives that benefit local communities and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Milagros.
